Troops destroy unconventional weapons in Huila

Four devices were found by the soldiers of the Ninth Brigade in the municipalities of Algeciras and Baraya.

 

With the mission of cleaning the lands of the department of Huila, in areas that once were operations zones of illegal structures, the Army has increased operations to eradicate the threat posed by the presence of explosive devices against the civilian population and the Security forces.

 

In the village of Río Blanco in the municipality of Baraya, soldiers of the Artillery Battalion No. 9 “Tenerife” found an illegal hideout with cylinder-type explosive devices. The troops found a launching pad for 100-pound gas cylinder, two 40-pound gas cylinders loaded with explosive Anfo; two of these elements had been conditioned as a deadly traps.

 

In the municipality of Algeciras, the operation took place in the village El Kiosko. Units of the High Mountain Battalion No. 9 in coordination with the Specialized Direction Against Criminal Organizations, Decoc, of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), discovered an illegal hideout with two barrels loaded, each one, with 25 kilos of the dangerous Anfo (explosive).

 

The discovery and controlled destruction of these illegal weapons of war, gives confidence to the rural population that transits through these areas in the framework of its daily work. So, when inhabitants of the region find suspicious elements, they must not touch them and on the contrary immediately report them to the authorities.
