The Colombian Navy, in coordination with officials of the Attorney General's Office, arrested in flagrante delicto two individuals, alleged members of the Los Espartanos substructure of the La Local Organized Gang, when they were collecting money from an extortion in a locality of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca.

The arrest of these criminals took place in the El Jorge neighborhood, in El Cinco locality of the city port, where the two men were surprised receiving 20 million pesos in cash, product of an extortion. The inter-institutional operation was carried out by troops of the Unified operation Group for Personal Freedom, Gaula, of the Colombian Navy and the Judicial Investigation Technical Corps of the Attorney General's Office.

According to the intelligence information, the cash from the extortion would be used for the purchase of illegal weapons and explosives, which would be used to attack against the members of the Military Forces, the critical infrastructure of the State and intimidate the civilians in this region of the country.

During the operation, the taxi in which the individuals were traveling and the communication equipment they used to coordinate their criminal activities were found by troops. The arrested and the material found were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
