Two extortionists caught in flagrante delicto in Buenaventura

In the framework of the operation that the National Navy maintains against common crime that aims to hit the tranquility of the inhabitants of the port of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca, two criminals were captured when they received money from an extortion.

The extortion victim filed a denunciation with the units of the Unified operation Group for Personal Freedom - Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura of the National Navy, because the individuals intimidated him by telephone, demanding money in exchange of not attacking  his family.

During the delivery of 650,000 pesos, money demanded by the extortionists, the troops of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) captured alias 'Gobert', 49, leader of a criminal group of the neighborhood El Colón, accompanied by another individual, 24, who were on two motorcycles.

The two individuals, along with the motorcycles and cell phones found by troops, were taken to the facilities of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in Buenaventura and put into custody of the authorities, where they were prosecuted for the crime of extortion, and they were put in preventive detention in their residences.

This year, about 200 individuals of common crime have been captured by units of the Pacific Naval Force and put into custody of the authorities.
