These individuals were about to kidnap a merchant in the municipality of Arauca when they were arrested.
In the course of military operations carried out by the troops of the National Army in coordination with the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police, arrested in flagrante delicto two citizens of Venezuelan nationality identified by the alias El Gordo or Mono Visajes and alias El Negro, alleged members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Estructura Décima, Martín Villa.
The operation was carried out thanks to the work of military intelligence, which detected the work of these individuals in the urban area of the municipality of Arauca, who were preparing to kidnap a merchant in his residence.
As it was established, these individuals are accused of planning attacks against the Military Forces through criminal intelligence, theft of vehicles, extortion, kidnapping and selective homicides in the capital city of Arauca.
Two 9-millimeter pistols, 31 cartridges for it, a motorcycle and extortive pamphlets alluding to the former Farc with which they intimidated civilians, were found by troops their possession.
The arrested persons and the evidence were put into custody of the authorities for prosecution.
With this result, the financial structure of this illegal group that has been committing crimes in the department of Arauca will be hit.
The National Army, in coordination with the National Police and inter-institutional work with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, will continue to conduct operations against organized armed groups and reaffirms its commitment to maintain security in this region of the country by inviting the community to report any work conducted by strangers at the national toll-free line 146 or 147 of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group).
