The academic event provided resources on the role that armies have played in the construction of states, analyzing concepts that are decisive for societies, especially in Latin America.
The Army of the Future Transformation Command (COTEF in Spanish) in coordination with the Directorate of International Relations (DIRIE), carried out the V Conference of Transformation: The Armies in the formation of the Latin American States, counted on the participation of the Defense and Military representatives, the secretaries accredited in Colombia, the Corps of Professional Officers of the Reserve and the Study Centers of different countries.
The conference included two presentations: History of guerrillas and peace processes in Latin America by Professor Eduardo Pizarro Leong贸mez and the role of Armies in the formation of Latin American States, by Professor Armando Borrero.
During their speeches, the speakers sought to generate a sense of understanding and contribute to the academic debate, deepening the knowledge of all attendees on issues related to the history of guerrillas and peace processes in Latin America, highlighting the important role of armies in nation-building and analyzing the contributions, Resources and commitments of institutions for societies through history.
Brigadier general Diego Luis Villegas Mu帽oz spoke of the importance for the Military to carry out events that promote academic cooperation. It is through the knowledge-sharing activities that is possible to complement efforts and build projects that will strengthen the institutions, so it is of vital importance that the men and women who are part of the National Army is trained and updated constantly in order to obtain tools to meet the challenges that the future holds.
