The director general of the Multinational Force and Observers will visit Colombia from February 18 to 21, 2023.

The Multinational and Observer Force (MFO) is an international peacekeeping organization, created by the agreement by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel to maintain peace in Sinai and prevent any violation of its terms.

The visit to Colombia, by its director General Elizabeth L. Dibble, who took office on 1st of August 2022, focuses on the update of topics on the security situation in this region and relations with the parties to the treaty, in addition to getting to know more closely the participation of our country, especially the contribution of the National Army.

Colombia is a contributing State since 1982 with troops in the Colombia Battalion No.3, deployed in the north region of the African continent. The 275 Soldiers of the National Army are an example of professionalism, strength and top training, fulfilling the mission of conducting mobile patrols and reporting on observations, in accordance with the MFO, providing stability in the Middle East.

The treaty establishes four security zones: three in Sinai, in Egypt, and one in Israel, along the international border. At the time, both sides asked the United Nations for the participation of Forces and observers to monitor, verify and work to increase the implementation of the Treaty, as well as prevent any violation of its terms.
