Within the framework of Operation Catatumbo, troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, together with soldiers of the Second Division of Colombian National Army, caused significant damage to the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez Front, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, in the municipality of Tibú, Department of Norte de Santander.
During the operation, with the support of artillery fires, the troops found war material and drones; the latter allegedly used for criminal intelligence work against the Military Forces and for the planning of terrorist operations.
Some of the war material found there are 1122 cartridges, 76 nonelectric detonators, 13,162 kilograms of explosive pentoflex or pentolite, a rudimentary grenade launcher, magazines for rifle, mortar shells, detonating cord and a spare for 7.62 mm caliber machine gun, 2 drones and a mobile (cellular) equipment.
In the same way, two vehicles and four motorcycles were immobilized in this operation of the Military Forces that were put into custody of the authority in charge of their judicial process.
It should be remembered that in this same municipality the soldiers in the same way found and destroyed in controlled conditions a minefield, planted to generate damage to the inhabitants and the troops in Tibú.
Colombian National Army continues to work in the framework of Operation Catatumbo, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the life, honor and good physical condition of the inhabitants, countering all acts of violence generated by organized armed groups.
