With the finding of these illegal goods, the commercialization of more than 4.8 million doses of narcotics was prevented on the streets of the world.
During the operation, 700 gallons of processed gasoline and satellite communication equipment were in the same way found.
Within the framework of two naval operations, units of the Colombian Navy have found approximately three tons of narcotics in the waters of the Colombian Pacific, which would have been destined for Central America.
In the first interception, due to a chase, ships of the Naval Institution, detected a ship that was traveling suspiciously 60 nautical miles from Buenaventura. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura was sent to carry out the corresponding operation.
Despite the attempts to flee and thanks to the quick reaction of the Colombian sailors, it was possible to intercept the suspicious boat, finding inside, 79 sacks of different shapes and sizes, which, by their characteristics, would resemble illicit substances, which were transported by three individuals of Nicaraguan nationality. In the same way, 700 gallons of processed gasoline and communications equipment were found by troops.
The second operation was carried out thanks to Naval intelligence information, which led the crew of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station to 175 nautical miles from Tumaco, in Nariño, where they detected a cargo that had been left at sea, being recovered by the crew of the National Navy, identifying that it was 38 sacks of different shapes and sizes, with similar characteristics to those of the first operation.
Once the illicit material found was taken to the Naval Institution's facilities, officials of the Technical Research Corps – CTI, carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, to the 117 bags found in both operations, determining that it was 1,830 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 1,679 kilograms of marijuana. The three arrested and the illegal goods were put into custody of the authorities, in order to conduct the corresponding legal procedures.
Through these meetings, more than 97 million dollars were stopped from entering the finances of criminal structures at the service of drug trafficking and the marketing of more than 4.8 million doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
