Colombian National Army resumes its presence in El Plateado, municipality of Argel铆a, Cauca, due to acts of coercion against the inhabitants to support the violence and extortion kidnapping perpetrated by the residual organized armed group Carlos Pati帽o Structure, whose objective has always been to destabilize the security of the community.
Recently the residual organized armed group Structura Carlos Pati帽o forced the inhabitants by constraint to violently reject the activity of the troops in the sector of the village La Hacienda. In that episode, people set an armored car on fire and detained 28 members of the National Police Military Forces, along with an Army officer, in a clear behavior of extortione kidnapping due to constraining the inhabitants to do so.
Faced with these events, Colombian National Army has reactivated its security operation in the urban area of the village, coordinating the reintegration of the troops. With the support of the Colombian Aerospace Force and the National Police, we arrived more strengthened, incorporating new armored cars, unmanned aerial vehicles and men ready to take back control and work to increase security.
In the same way, the misleading information that was about a supposed forced eradication of 30,000 hectares of coca leaf was denied. Colombian National Army will work with the communities to identify their needs and propose, within the framework of the national Government's illicit plantation substitution programs, alternatives that promote the comprehensive development of the region.
All the evidence collected from social networks, which document the de facto violent ways in the village of La Hacienda, has been given to the Attorney General's Office so that the relevant investigations can be initiated and those responsible prosecuted.
As long as there is a National Army, there will be hope for the communities of the Micay Canyon. We will continue to work to restore order and work to increase the well-being of the inhabitants in the southwest.
Homeland, Honor, Loyalty.
