Since 2016, when the Colombian Air Force graduated the first female Pilot for UH-60 Black Hawk in the country, a door was opened for women who dreamed of being part of this impressive aircraft.

In command of the controls, Captain María Alejandra Charry has carried out important operations, saving lives in different search and rescue missions, aeromedical evacuations, transportation of humanitarian aid and firefighting, among others, demonstrating her capacity and expertise at the time of to fly, thus becoming the example to follow for the young women who come behind to train and prepare as officers in the Military School of Aviation Marco Fidel Suarez in Cali.

For this reason and as part of their training to be commanders, in 2018, the Air Institution welcomed the first female two co-pilots to the Black Hawk crew, the sub-lieutenants Camila Montoya and Blanca Camila Hernández who were inspired by the roar of The engines to fulfill part of their dream and they joined the Special Operations squadron No. 513,  in the Air Combat Command No.5, in Rionegro, in the department of Antioquia.

But flying this powerful helicopter is not only a matter of the controls, but in the same way requires a technical support, worthy of admiration, which is the mission of the air technician Fernanda Rodríguez, flight crew member, whose mission is to prepare the aircraft to fulfill the mission.

Thus, the Colombian Air Force in the same way evolves and celebrates 100 years innovating and opening new paths, recognizing in women their abilities, qualities and virtues as military, with vocation and passion for what they do, fulfilling their mission protecting the Nation.
