Within the framework of the IV CELAC-EU Summit, the Military Forces have conducted a Comprehensive General Security Operation, whose sole purpose is to work to create a safe, stable and threat-free environment during the event.
This operation, coordinated and conducted by the Military Forces and the National Police, has been designed to respond to the magnitude of the summit, as well as to the parallel activities with the presence of the President of the Republic and events with large concentrations of public, which implies a superior work and permanent coordination with the civil authorities.
In compliance with the institutional mission, the Military Forces have established a security plan with air, sea and land coverage; protection schemes; safe routes for strategic mobility; surveillance over critical constructions; control operations in high-traffic environments; and specialized resources to anticipate and mitigate any risk.
Approximately 2,400 men of the Military Forces worked at the IV CELAC-EU Summit in a joint, coordinated and interagency operation with the other State institutions.
Colombian National Army, through its First Division, sent personnel for intelligence, and motorized units, anti-explosive equipment and GAULA (ANTI-EXTORTION AND ANTI-KIDNAPPING GROUP). For its part, the Colombian Navy, with the Caribbean Naval Force, has sent rapid reaction units and a surface platform to support the operation. In addition, the Aerospace Force with its CACOM 3 with the resources of its fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft strengthens the security operation
