The work in the Parque Isla Salamanca, completely mitigated the forest fire

The fire that for more than a week has consumed more than 200 hectares of the Natural Park has been controlled again by the Colombian Air Force and the relief agencies of the region.

After the work done by the crews of the Colombian Air Force, the Firefighters, who were on the ground, and the personnel of the National Risk Management Unit, an activity was again carried out to mitigate a small outbreak of forest fire that has been occurring for more than a week in the Parque Natural Isla Salamanca. For this purpose, the National Air Force personnel Recovery Center alerted Air Combat Command No.3 to give timely assistance to this new outbreak, preventing it from spreading and consuming more hectares of mangrove.

To deal with this new outbreak, a Bell 212 helicopter was deployed making nine water drops in the area equivalent to 4,356 gallons of water and five of retarding liquid, which after more than an hour of operation managed to control completely the flames that felled near the place where more than 200 hectares were consumed during the past week.

The Colombian Air Force calls on the community to preserve these natural reserves, and commits itself to continue working together with all the entities in charge of protecting them, supporting their preservation, as well as the fauna that lives in the park.
