The Command of the Third Division, a unit of the National Army, informs in a preliminary way :
1. In facts that are under investigation, today, August 12, 2023, in the road that connects the municipalities of Caloto and Santander de Quilichao, department of Cauca, Soldier Juan David Estrada Suárez, of the Ground Operations Battalion No. 13 who were in a state of helplessness would have been kidnapped.
2. Once the situation was known, the authorities were notified to file a denunciation for kidnapping and, in coordination with the National Police, the protocols and a complete search operation were activated to find him.
3. In the same way, a specialized accompaniment was ordered to the family of our kidnapped military man.
4. In the area where the kidnapping occurred, the residual organized armed group Dagoberto Ramos Structure commits crimes, so that group is the responsible for the safety and good physical condition of our military.
5. This criminal operation is a flagrant violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law, so the National Army categorically rejects these facts and will make the denunciations before the judicial authorities so that those responsible are identified and their prosecution is carried out.
