With the aim of preserving the fauna that enriches the national territory, the transfer of a Pauraque Chotacabras (Nyctidromus albicollis), commonly known as Bujío, was carried out, which due to its state of health needed veterinary specialists to assist it. Due to its characteristics it would have suffered an accident on the right wing preventing it from living appropriately in its natural environment.
Thanks to the experience and knowledge of the trained personnel of the N.6 Air Combat Command, CACOM-6, of the Colombian Air Force, it was possible to find and provide help to the bird specimen, characterized by its nocturnal agility with great ease to camouflage itself during the day.
Therefore, and being custodians of the environment, CACOM-6 led the evacuation of the bird in order to transfer it to Florencia, Caquetá, where the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the Southern Amazon, CORPOAMAZONIA, an institution that works for the fauna and flora of the region, received it to provide the necessary assistance and thus release it back into its natural habitat, since its specimen is unique in the region and therefore becomes attractive for illegal trafficking.
With the commitment to safeguard the country's Amazon rainforest and the specimens that inhabit it, the Air Force will continue to use its operational resources and the human talent of the Institution to protect and safeguard Colombian biodiversity.
