Units of the Colombian Navy safeguarded the lives of 17 irregular migrants of Venezuelan nationality, who were traveling on a boat named Blue Scorpion, which was detected, when it was making suspicious routes to the southwest of the Island of San Andrés.

At night, through the Maritime Traffic and Surveillance Tower, the ship that was making movements in unauthorized areas was identified, for which the San Andrés Coast Guard Station was notified, which immediately deployed a Rapid Reaction Unit -URR- to the sector to carry out maritime patrols and verify the situation.

The Colombian Navy unit made the interception of the ship finding that it was manned by two people from San Andrés, the captain and the assistant. They were carrying 16 adults whose ages ranged from 23 and 46 years, as well as a 13 year old boy. According to the initial verifications and inquiries, it was determined that this ship was apparently making irregular transit in the insular department bound for Central America, for which they were taken to the dock of the Samuel May Corpus Coast Guard Station.

At the dock of the military unit, the captain and the assistant of the boat were put into custody of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, as well as the boat with its engines, two cell phones, a GPS and 700 dollars found; the migrants were put into custody of the authority.
