The Command of the Seventh Division of the National Army, about the events that occurred on the afternoon of today, June 18, 2022, in the village Mesones, in the municipality of Argelia, east of the department of Antioquia, informs:
1. According to preliminary information, a soldier of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.4 Juan del Corral, of the Fourth Brigade, apparently in an apparent act of intolerance, causes the death of the second sergeant Agudelo Arevalo Luis, the third corporal Montero Peteví Elvis Manuel, and wounds on the soldier Marín Aguirre Luis, with a firearm.
2. This situation was immediately contactd to the competent authorities, and a team of Judicial Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office of the Nation traveled to the scene of the events to carry out the urgent acts. The alleged aggressor is already into custody of the authorities.
3. The injured soldier was evacuated, and later taken to a hospital; according to the medical report, he is stable.
4. This Command ordered the initiation of the corresponding disciplinary investigation, in accordance with the parameters established in Law 1862 of 2017.
5. The National Army sends a respectful greeting of solidarity and condolences to the families and partners of our two members of the Military Forces killed in this unfortunate event.
