Heavy blow dealt against the residual GAOs “Urías Rondón” and “Iván Ríos”

They would be planning terrorist operations within the framework of the upcoming elections in the Pacific region in the department of Nariño.

 

Within the framework of the Democracy Plan 2022, the Hercules Joint Task Force, in the course of three military operations of the National Army, was able to decisively hit Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the Nariño department Pacific region with the recovery of two minors, the finding of war material and military accessories in the rural area of Tumaco, Nariño.

 

In the first military operation, troops of the Rapid Deployment Battalion No.5, after several days of follow-up, it was possible the recovery of two minors, who were part of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Urías Rondón, who had in their possession war materials and garments for the exclusive use of the Military Forces. The minors were put into custody of the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing to restore their rights.

 

In the same way, in the second operation, troops of the Jungle Battalion No.53, simultaneously engaged two combats against members of the GAO-r Urías Rondón in the village Chinguirito and the residual GAO, Iván Ríos Structure in the village Inda Zabaleta rural area of the district of Tumaco.

 

According to military intelligence information, these structures would be in confrontations for the control of drug trafficking in the region and they would be preparing terrorist operations to hit the tranquility of electoral activity on this Sunday, June 19.

 

In the operations against these criminal structures, it was possible to find six rifles, one submachinegun, two pistols, three hand grenades, two grenades, ammunition, abundant ammunition of different calibers and military accessory material.

 

It is important to highlight that these operations are carried out within the framework of the Democracy Plan 2022, established by the Military Forces, whose purpose is to maintain law and order and generate the necessary security conditions for the free exercise of democratic rights and the normal development of the electoral process.

 

Military forces invite the people of the Pacific region of the department of Nariño to report in a timely manner any act of irregularity disturbing the free exercise of the vote, so that the Military Forces of Colombia, the National Police and other institutions work in this region, to fight and weaken the Organized Armed Groups who commit crimes in the southwest of the country.
