Troops of the National Army, the Attorney General's Office and the National Police, in a coordinated and inter-institutional work against the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, during a military operation, made effective an arrest warrant against an alleged ringleader of this illegal structure, in the department of Casanare.
The operation was carried out in the La Pradera neighborhood of the municipality of Montería, Córdoba, where soldiers of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) arrived to enforce a court order against alias Darío or Medicina, for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, aggravated extortion and homicide. This person is accused of being the regional coordinator of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in the south of the department of Casanare.
According to work of research and intelligence, this individual would have an experience of 12 years in criminal activities, and currently he would be the coordinator of this illegal structure in the municipalities of Maní, Tauramena, Villanueva, Monterrey, Aguazul and Yopal, in Casanare, in charge of transmitting orders and participate in extortion of money, killings, forced displacement, kidnapping and intimidation of merchants, farmers, businessmen, contractors, petroleum companies and palm trees growers, and the civilians.
He is in the same way being investigated for his alleged participation in several homicides perpetrated in the municipality of Maní, in September 2020 and this year.
Due to the decisive blows given by the authorities on this armed group organized outlaw, in order to prevent their arrest, that organization of criminals would have ordered his transfer to the municipality of Montería, where apparently he would have as a mission to coordinate extortions and homicides in the medio Sinú.
