The Colombian Navy in development of joint operations with the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and inter-institutional with the Attorney General's Office, obtained the finding and subsequent destruction of 18 illegal infrastructures for the production of coca paste base, two cocaine hydrochloride cocaine laboratory and a seedbed belonging to the dissidents of the FARC in the Colombian southeast.
During the operations, the laboratories were found by troops and destroyed in the departments of Putumayo, Meta, Guaviare and Caquetá, where the coca paste base, the main precursor for obtaining cocaine hydrochloride, is produced.
Within these infrastructures, 1,182 kilograms of solid precursors, 8,532 gallons of liquid precursors, 448 kilograms of chopped coca leaf, 164 kilograms of coca base in process as well as machinery, equipment and other elements used for the production of the narcotic were found by troops.
In the same way, in a rural area of the municipalities of Puerto Asís and Puerto Leguízamo (Putumayo), National Army troops guided by intelligence information of the Colombian Navy found and destroyed two cocaine hydrochloride cocaine containers containing 1,133 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, one ton of solid precursors and 335 gallons of liquid precursors. At the same time, in the municipality of Puerto Concordia (Meta), a seedbed with about 4,000 coca bushes was found, which had an approximate height of ten centimeters each.
The destruction of these infrastructures represents the loss of one of the main sources of income of residual Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in this region of the country, which in turn attack the natural resources and biodiversity of the territories by using chemical precursors that pollute the Amazon environment.
