- With the aim of mitigating extortion and its different forms, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) worked for the safety of Colombians, especially travelers during the week of recess.
- Under the inter-institutional campaign I don't pay, I denounce and with the objective of training citizens more and more against the crimes of kidnapping and extortion, the 32 Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) units deployed along the main roads of the country, accompanied different tourist sites, visited the media and massively shared the 147 hotline.
Considering that the criminal groups who perpetrate extortion and kidnapping have been changing their criminal modalities through digital tools, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) has been promoting prevention activities emphasizing self-care and discretion, as a determinant aspect to mitigate risk.
Thus, with the distribution of the security Decalogue with the steps to follow in case of extortionist calls or visits, it is possible to spread recommendations such as:
*Talking with children and teens to be cautious and not expose their intimate life, because although it seems that a simple photo is not of significance, it can become information for offenders to cause harm, when they visit any video, photo or any personal information published in the media, so we can lose the control on this publication, being an object of material for extortion.
*When information is requested through the internet pages, verify that the links connects an official page; there are many sites that are not authorized and become a risk.
*In the same way, when we want to download different Apps either on cell phones, laptops, or tablets, we must download from official pages.
*Be very careful with children, be familiar with the places your children visit, observe their partners and be attentive to changes in behavior, this should be an alert.
*In case you feel like a victim of kidnapping or extortion, the first and most important step is to call line 147.
