As a sample of support and solidarity, the troops of Brigade No.31 benefited about 300 people of the indigenous community in the municipality of San Francisco.
One of the many missions of the soldier is to reach all sectors through Comprehensive Action and Development to provide cultural and recreational activities and healthy coexistence. This time, the commander of the Fourth Division of the National Army, Major General Antonio María Beltrán Díaz, returned to the Model Village to tell indigenous leaders, young people, older adults and children that the Army will always be there to arrive not only with safety and protection, but to extend a hand to their needs.
The municipality of San Francisco is an area introduced by the soldiers of the Thirty-First Brigade, which was known as the Model Village, in which the Army aims to give continuity to the strategy that focuses the effort through Unified operation of the State to improve the conditions of life of this vulnerable people. The previous year, the officer had in the same way visited that same indigenous community, and on that occasion shared a chocolate made by the soldiers themselves who, in an improvised kitchen, as they do in the area of operations, demonstrated once again their support and respect for the culture.
"It is common for this community to receive visits at least once a week from soldiers, who manage not to neglect their Model Village. This community inspires us not only respect, but love. While I was Brigade commander No.31, I listened to the community tell me how important the Army is to them, and that fills me with total pride, not only for being their commander, but as a soldier of the homeland who comes out motivated to continue giving more for the well-being of the communities,” added Major General Beltrán.
During his visit, the officer in the same way greeted the soldiers of the Jungle Infantry Battalion No.30, who continue to conduct the tasks of Supporting the Defense of the Civil Authority on the banks of the Vaupés River, mainly on the border with Brazil, and recognized their work, in the same way highlighted how important they are as members of the Army family.
