The authorities are making progress in restoring the right to mobility, removing more than 35 tons of rubble in Cali and other municipalities of Valle del Cauca.
In activities to Support the Defence of the Civil Authority, the National Army, in coordination with the Police, intervened in several blocking points in the city of Cali and municipalities in Valle del Cauca.
In the Paso del Comercio, on the Cali-Palmira road, during the early hours of this Friday, June 4, a blockade point was dismantled, which had been there several weeks. This place had been vandalized and impeded the right to free mobility, hindering the movement of the inhabitants of the sector. There were even denunciations from people who said that there were thefts and collection of money to led circulation. Authorities had to use heavy machinery to remove road signs, traffic lights and poles that had been knocked down and planted at that point by vandals. This is a key point, since it is the main road that connects the capital city of Valle del Cauca with the interior of the country.
Similarly, in the early morning, two blockades were dismantled in the municipality of Buga. There, with the support of the Police, troops made the way into the sectors of Puente Palo Blanco and Uninorte. These are strategic location for the supply and commercial activities of the south-western region of the country.
In the same way, and continuing with the caravans of the productive chain, on the night of Thursday and early Friday, security was provided for the free transit of more than 4,700 cargo vehicles, which carried about 105,000 tons of medicines, food and basic necessities to and from Valle del Cauca and the interior of the country.
In urban work, 2021 motor vehicles that transited by the different cargo terminals, transported merchandises in and out the sea port of Buenaventura.
These operations, framed in efforts to Support the Defense of Civil Authority are carried out in favor of security and free citizen mobility and every day contribute decisively to the well-being of citizens and to the economic reactivation of the southwestern part of the country.
