Colombia is ready to respond to any international threat: Defense Minister

The minister of Defense, Diego Molano, accompanied by the military commanders, reviewed resources of the medium Combined arms Task Force of the National Army, at the facilities of the Rondón Cavalry Group, in the border area. Troops and resources remain on alert to defend the country against possible damages to sovereignty.

 

Minister Molano said that “the protection of Colombians is a commitment that goes from La Guajira to the Amazon. That is why we have this combined force to guarantee the peace of mind of Colombians and protect them from any threat that interferes with their security. We work tirelessly for the safety of all Colombians against any threat, wherever it comes from”.

 

During the event, the Combined arms deployment and maneuvering resources that must comply with the principles of persuasive military operations effectively were demonstrated. Fire management, support and protection are the fundamental lines in the strategy of this unit of the National Army.

 

Fires: decisive factor in unified ground operations, that evidence synergy of communications conducted by field artillery, air and missile defense artillery and joint fires, through the process of prioritization and selection of targets.

 

Support: providing the doctrine required for the fulfillment of the mission of the different environments, focused on three elements: military logistics, personnel services and health services support. This function of conducting war determines the depth and duration of operations.

 

Protection: it is the purpose of the military carrying out the protection of operations, in order to preserve the combat power, personnel, associates to the unified Union, Information and strategic assets of the nation from potential dangers.

 

On the other hand, the strategic transformation and Innovation Committee of this force, constantly evaluates the challenges that the Army will face in the future. The lines of operation are directed to aspects generators of strength and combat capability to be a multi mission military force: decisive, comprehensive, adaptive and flexible, able to respond timely and efficiently to any kind of threat to the national security or to the territory, as well as being able to meet the complex security challenges in the international situations.

 

The Combined Arms Task Force consists of two mechanized infantry companies (with transports TPM-113A 2 and LAVIII), two Mechanized Cavalry squadrons (with Engesa EE-9 Cascabel and EE-11 Urutú), a reconnaissance unit (equipped with HMMWV vehicles, anti-tank missiles and heavy machineguns), a Sniper Squad (with different rifles, including 50 caliber weapons), a platoon of mortars (equipped with 81 mm rifles), and Black Hawk helicopters for aerial maneuver and to optimize mobility.
