“Law 1448 of 2011 established April 9 of each year as the day of memory and solidarity with the victims of violence and in the same way included our injured soldiers and Police members", Minister Molano said.

277,325 victims in the Colombian Army,

another 29,646 victims in the National Navy,

In the Colombian Air Force there are 4,551 victims,

and 62,990 victims in the National Police.

In a solemn ceremony, the minister of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, commemorated the National Day of memory and solidarity with the victims of the conflict, at the memorial of the heroes fallen in combat.

“Today, not only us, but all the people of Colombia stands up to pay tribute to the victims of violence," said the minister, who was accompanied by the military and Police Commanders.

He in the same way said that in Colombia there are 9 million 113 thousand 500 Colombians who have been victims of the painful history of the armed conflict.

"In my memory live those Colombians who were victims of torture, kidnapping, displacement, anti-personnel mines, by terrorist organizations," he said and added that 374,512 people of the Military Forces have suffered victimizing acts, as well as their families.

In his speech, Molano said that one of the challenges of President Iván Duque and his, as Minister of Defense, is to continue improving health care services for all military, police units and their families.

“The spirit of the Victims Act is that their condition must be dignified so that their tragedy does not happen again," he said.

Finally, the Minister of Defense reminded Colombians that in every corner of Colombia soldiers and police units are ready to loss their lives to fight, without a pause, all those who persist in turning a Colombian into a victim.

"Every minute, our military and police forces act, relentlessly, so that there are no more victims in Colombia," he said.
