VI version of the multinational naval campaign against drug trafficking Orion

The National Government, through the Navy of Colombia as the standard-bearer in the fight against drug trafficking, led the execution of the VI version of the Naval Campaign to combat drug Trafficking Orión, a multilateral effort in which participants carried out combined, joint and coordinated multidimensional operations (maritime, river, land and air) with countries who share the interest of contribute to efforts against the global problem of illicit drugs.

 

In this Naval Campaign Orion VI was a strategic alliance under the framework of agreements of international cooperation conducted by Germany, Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, united States, Spain, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Italy, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.

 

29 countries, 51 international institutions and six Colombian institutions: the National Army, the National Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police, the Attorney General's office and the Financial Information and Analysis Unit, together sent to the campaign 61 maritime ships, 18 river ships, 48 Coast Guard Interceptor boats, 26 River combat boats, 13 maritime patrol aircraft, 08 helicopters and 03 unmanned aerial systems, which carried out operations in the Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific regions and Border Rivers of Colombia.

 

All these resources were operationally integrated through the International Operational Coordination Center and the International Intelligence Fusion Center of the Colombian Navy, in close coordination with the Liaison Officers of each country, demonstrating the leadership of the National Government in the fight against this problem to hit the activities of transnational crime organizations.

 

During the 45 days the Naval Campaign Orion VI, the work of the multidisciplinary team of national and multinational managed the finding of 90.7 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, 110,6 tons of solid precursors and 37.390 gallons of liquid precursors, 168 laboratories, which equates to 9.5 tons of cocaine, which is not going to be produced. The operation stopped the production and traffic of 100.2 tons of this substances, representing 250,681,000 doses that will not be consumed and an expectation of profit of USD 3,379,179,880, price calculated if put in US markets , will not enter the illegal groups.
