During 2019, the Joint Task Force ‘Omega’ has neutralized 242 Improvised Explosive Devices. Last week they neutralized 12, in rural area of the department of Caquetá and Meta.
In military operations, the Joint Task Force ‘Omega’ achieved controlled neutralization of 12 improvised explosive devices, apparently planted by residual Organized Armed Groups, to hit troops and the community in rural Caquetá and Meta.
The first operations occurred in the rural area of the department of Caquetá, where the soldiers of the Ground Operations Battalion No.1, in the Sardinata village, found an improvised explosive device, while in the El Billar hamlet, three explosive devices were found by troops with approximately 30 kilos of explosive. Another element with similar characteristics was detected in the village La Chorrera, municipality of Cartagena del Chairá, this time by men of the Ground Operations Battalion No. 70.
The second incident occurred in the village La Primavera, municipality of Puerto Rico, Meta, where the men of the Ground Operations Battalion No.4 neutralized two antipersonnel mines and an improvised explosive device that were in the middle of a wooded area where inhabitants and military usually transit.
In the same way, in the Guaimaral village of the municipality of Vista Hermosa, Meta, the ground operations Battalion with the support of the trained dog, it was possible to find, later neutralize, a cylindrical shaped IED, which had a cable activation method by command, ready to be detonated against the troops that transit through the area.
Finally, in Meta, the Rapid Deployment Force, in rural area of the Embarcadero de Mesetas village, found two explosive devices structured in plastic containers.
During 2019, the Joint Task Force 'Omega', through its Units as the Specific Command of the East, the Specific Command of the Caguan and the Rapid Deployment Force, has timely neutralized 242 improvised explosive devices, all of them have been destroyed under controlled conditions by the Explosives and Demolitions specialists, maintaining the security protocols and physical well-being of the surrounding communities.
