In less than a week, 26 people have already been rescued alive, thanks to the timely reaction of the Naval Institution Units, safeguarding human life in the Pacific.

The rapid reaction of Colombian Navy Units, led to the rescue of six Ecuadorian people  who would have been shipwrecked in the waters of the Colombian Pacific, after failures in the engine of the ship in which they were traveling, in the sector of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca.

The events occurred when the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura was alerted by the Ecuadorian authorities, about the sinking of the ship ‘Yaku’, which carried six people. Immediately, in coordination with Pacific Naval Force units, a search and rescue operation was activated, with the Coastal Patrol ship, ARC ‘Punta Soldado’.

Given the situation, support was requested to the Southern Command of the United States, which is supporting the Pacific Naval Force in operations against drug trafficking, but this time it flew over the area where the emergency occurred, which led to the discovery of the people who would have been shipwrecked.

The six rescued men were immediately helped by military of the ship ARC ‘Punta Soldado’, who transported them to Buenaventura, where they were later received by Migration Colombian.

The shipwreck would have occurred due to adverse weather conditions in the area, which caused damages in one of the chambers of the boat .
