The Omega Joint Task Force Command preliminarily reports:
1. At dawn today, six soldiers of the Ground Operations Battalion No.2 of the Specific Command of Caguán were killed and eight were wounded while military operations were conducted in the rural area of the municipality of La Macarena, in the department of Meta.
2. The action was reported in the hamlet Puerto Lozada, when the military units were carrying out an operation against the individual known by the alias Álvaro Boyaco, in charge of this terrorist structure of the GAO-r that commits crimes in this area of the country.
3. The soldiers injured were treated as a priority by combat nurses and evacuated in aircraft of the Army Aviation and the Air Assault Division towards the city of Florencia, where at this time they are treated.
4. The Military Unit reported the facts to the Criminal Investigation Operative Group, GROIC, of the National Police, with the purpose of conducting the urgent acts of our personnel and initiating investigative work to determine the circumstances of time, mode and place in which the events occurred.
5. At this time, the General Commander of the Military Forces and the Commander of the National Army are traveling to the site, to support the military units, to be informed directly of what happened, and to direct the military operations that are still ongoing in the area.
In the same way, in order to carry out the review operations at the site, the General Inspectorate of Military Forces will travel to the zone.
