Mr. SE Keiichiro Morishita, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in Colombia, made a formal visit to the facilities of the National Service of Learning, Sena, in the municipality of Tolú, in the department of Sucre, which counted on the participation of local and regional authorities, such as the Commander of the Base of Marine Infantry Training, Brigadier General of Marine Infantry, Ricardo Ernesto Vargas Cuéllar.
The objective of this visit is to strengthen ties of fraternity and international cooperation, as well as to carry out cultural exchange, strengthen strategic alliances and agreements that favor the Department of Sucre.
During the visit, the Ambassador of Japan expressed his commitment to continue supporting the projects in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, where more than 10 libraries benefiting children have been built in the municipalities of Corozal, Morroa, Los Palmitos, Buenavista, San Marcos , Caimito, Sincé, San Onofre, Sampués and El Roble. In the same way, medical equipment was established in Sincelejo, in Majugual and Morroa hospital supplies, in Buenavista, a child integration center, and in San Juan de Betulia some classrooms have given to the community.
This international cooperation received by the inhabitants of the department of Sucre by the Japanese Government is significant, because through the donation of libraries and classrooms, children, youth and adults have been able to promote their education. Currently, new projects are being managed to expand the number of programs offered by the SENA in Tolú, as well as donations of books to the School of Gastronomy, the acquisition of a Research Laboratory and a drinking water facility.
During the visit of Mr. SE Keiichiro Morishita, the regional authorities expressed their gratitude in the voice of the children who have learned, benefited and enjoyed these projects. This year, the Nippon Government celebrates the one hundred eleventh anniversary of the diplomatic relations with Colombia who work through the society of Japanese descendants (Nikkei Society).
