The material is part of the elements that were stored in illegal hideouts by the illegal groups that in the past operated in the north of the department of Huila.
Preventing this explosive material from being manipulated accidentally by the peasant population and eradicating the traces of the war in the lands of the department of Huila, is the objective of the soldiers of Artillery Battalion No. 9 'Tenerife' of the Ninth Brigade, through operations of territorial control.
The military unit has made use of the information provided by the Civic Participation Network, data that has led it to find the points where illegal hideouts with war material and explosives were abandoned.
On this occasion, the illegal hideout contained 27 grenades of 40 millimeters that were destroyed under controlled conditions by the EXDE Explosives and Demolitions Team, contributing to the safety and well-being of the rural community.
The operation that took place in the village of Valparaiso in the municipality of Baraya, counted on the support of the Judicial Police of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of Neiva, a coordinated work whose sole purpose is to contribute to the progress of the “Opita’s” land.
