Thanks to the rapid reaction and deployment of our troops in order to preserve the good physical condition of the Arauca´s people, the Group of Mechanized Cavalry group of the Eighteenth Brigade, find, secure the area and subsequently, destroy under controlled conditions an explosive device that had a system of activation by cable control.
The device was planted by terrorists of the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front, Grupo Ernesto Che Guevara of the Eln, which is the same is the criminal structure responsible for the terrorist attack at the Santander General School in the capital city of the country in recent days. This device was planted on the side of the main road that leads from Saravena to the municipality of Cubará, in the department of Boyacá, where more than 1,000 people travel daily with their products, as well as tourists, students, the community and the National Army troops.
This is how our soldiers managed to neutralize this threat under all established security protocols, preventing the community of these two Departments from being victims of the ELN terrorist plans.
The National Army rejects this type of operations and methods of war that are a clear violation of human rights and International Humanitarian Law, with which it was intended to attack directly against the life and good physical condition of the community.
