Army captured nine members of the ELN and the GAO-r front 36

In the two military operations carried out in the north and Bajo Cauca in the Department of Antioquia, troops found five rifles, two short weapons, explosives, abundant ammunition of different calibers, communications equipment and documents of these two armed groups.

In the 'Diamante' Plan, troops of the Seventh Division of the National Army captures nine guerrillas belonging to the ELN and the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, front 36, who committed crimes in the regions of Bajo Cauca and north of Department of Antioquia

The first result occurred in the area known as Loma Grande, on the border of the municipalities of San Andrés de Cuerquia and Toledo, in the north of the department. Members of the Fourth Brigade, guided by information of Military Intelligence, found the place where six individuals belonging to the GAO-r, front 36, hid after attacking the military.

As a result of this operation, it was possible to capture these bandits, including alias 'Caníbal', who would be the armed and finance coordinator. It was established that alias 'Caníbal' had been part of the extinct AUC Metro Bloc (United Self-Defenders of Colombia), as well as a member of the organized crime group Los Pachelly.

These six individuals had with them three long-range semiautomatic rifles, two short weapons, abundant ammunition of different calibers, communications equipment, explosives, three pounds of coca base paste and documentation belonging to that organized armed group.

The other result occurred in the village Doradas Altas, municipality of Barro Blanco, municipality of Tarazá in the lower Cauca, in the Department of Antioquia. Units of the Ground Operations Battalion No. 24, in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force and interagency with the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to reach a hiding place organized by members of the war front Darío Ramírez Castro del Eln.

In this operation, the surprise factor was fundamental, since with the night landing made at strategic points, the troops controlled the criminals, who, could not react.

These individuals had two M-16 rifles, a precision sight, a hand grenade, more than 800 rifle cartridges, as well as explosive material that would be used in operations against the Public Force.

This year, the troops of the Seventh Division of the National Army have captured 1,853 members of different organized armed groups in the departments of Córdoba, Chocó and Antioquia. This operation generates an atmosphere of tranquility and confidence in the communities of this region of northwestern Colombia.
