In the departments of Caquetá, Guaviare, Guainía, Vichada and Chocó today progress winds are breathed. For the first time the inhabitants of these regions will have the opportunity to move around taking advantage of their water wealth, leaving in the past the difficulties they suffered to access and use these fluvial routes in rudimentary boats without complying with the minimum safety measures, which has caused multiple accidents.
"It is a blessing that in this port of Solano, the Military Forces bring us a wharf that serves for the people, for the boarding and disembarkation of the patients, it is good that they have us in mind because that possibility of having a dock like this one has always been very far" said Héctor Bermeo Cediel, ambulance driver IPS Solano.
In order to bring an early solution to this problem and support the most remote coastal communities hit by the Colombian armed conflict, the Ministry of National Defense, in contribution to the post-agreement stage, structured and carried out the program "Improvement of river mobility in the river populations ", which will install 12 fluvial docks for a cost of $ 4,616,000,000 pesos.
These piers are floating structures with a covered steel platform, safety rails and pedestrian access that seek to benefit not only rivers in environmental matters but in the social, economic and mobility issues.
The project of naval engineering at the service of Colombians is a reality thanks to the articulation of capacities of the Science and Technology Corporation for the Maritime and Fluvial Naval Industry (Cotecmar), the Military Forces and the local authorities who have been committed to administer these constructions.
Additionally, the Ministry managed and structured with the National Planning Department (DNP) and the governorates, the construction of 29 piers on the Atrato, Baudó and San Juan rivers in the Department of Chocó, as well as five other piers and three docks in Arauca with resources of the General System of Royalties (SGR) that reach $ 15,789,674,500 pesos.
