In a route over the main rivers of the triple border, the Colombian Navy's river rifle boat ARC Leticia sailed approximately 4,624 kilometers during its participation in the Bracolper Naval 2023 training exercises, making trips between the cities of Iquitos – Peru, Leticia - Colombia and Manaus - Brazil, where the three phases of the operation were successfully carried out
Within the framework of this edition No. 48, important commitments were established by the naval authorities of Brazil, Colombia and Peru, such as the permanent exchange of valuable information and the implementation of development support activities that brought different services to the coastal villages of the three countries. In addition, the countries pledged to work to provide immediate humanitarian aid in case of emergencies that compromise the lives of civilians or communities and to take concrete operations for the preservation of the Amazonian environment.
During the months of July, August and September, the river units of the Brazilian Navy, the Colombian Navy and the Peruvian Navy conducted about 20 naval exercises while sailing over the main tributaries of the Amazon. In this way, the crews are trained to coordinate procedures and communications, according to the standards established by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization - NATO, strengthening technical and human resources, as well as military interoperability to counter transnational crimes that disturb security, development and ecosystems on the triple border.
Since 1974, Operation BRACOLPER Naval has in the same way brought these institutions together to strengthen the bonds of partnership and celebrate the independence holidays of the three participating countries. On this occasion, the Colombian Navy sent its Naval resources during the military parades in commemoration of the 213 years of Independence of Colombia, 202 years of Independence of the Republic of Peru and 201 years of Independence of Brazil, as well as the commemoration of the 200 years of the Battle of Lake Maracaibo in this 2023, the year of the Naval Bicentenary.
