Soldiers of the Colombia Circus, with camouflaged hearts, have toured the Andean Region of the country for 30 years

A team of soldiers of the National Army, who constantly learn new circus Resources, have traveled for 30 years departments such as Caldas, Quindío, Tolima, Risaralda, Huila and Cundinamarca, to bring joy to areas where living conditions are really difficult, and where smiling sometimes becomes a challenge.

Despite the hours traveled, the bad conditions of the terrain through which our men have had to travel and with a weight of more than 25 tons of equipment, the multicolored tent of the Colombia circus always reaches the most vulnerable villages, receiving as a reward the gratitude and infinite happiness of the people who, for the first time, enjoy a circus.

With a wide experience in facts and places, the history of the Circus Colombia No.5 highlights experiences such as the two trips to San Andrés Islas, positioning them as the first circus to arrive in this part of the country, and not least, the action of being a training school for soldiers of armies of other countries and a model of social work with the most vulnerable communities.

It has arrived for the first time in places such as Alcalá, Valle del Cauca, Algeciras, Huila, with 24 functions full of lights, colors and a lot of joy, Quibdó with 25 tons of cargo and 37 functions, benefiting 4,141 people, and Istmina, Chocó department with 28 functions and 4,544 children, young people and adults benefited.

Currently, the Circo Colombia No.5 is made up of 20 soldiers, two non-commissioned officers and the renowned clown Cascabelin, who through a coordinated work, have been weaving bonds of hope in areas hit by the armed conflict.

The main benefit for the inhabitants is the distribution of messages of peace and values that strengthen coexistence, through campaigns such as Disarming Hearts, where more children and teenagers come to the tricolor tent to exchange knives or war toys for school kits and presents.

It should be added that, during these 30 years, the impact of this operation has led the Colombia Circus to be the meeting point for coordination with territorial institutions, private companies, foundations and local authorities, leading these spaces to be carried out for leisure and healthy recreation.

Since its foundation, the circus only stopped its functions in 2020, due to the impact generated by the global health crisis of Covid-19, reaching to benefit until the beginning of quarantine and social isolation to more than 145,000 people in 13 municipalities.

The National Army is proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Circo Colombia, whose multicolored tent made up of soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5, are a clear example of the great work that is being done throughout the territory to gladden the hearts of the inhabitants and turn Colombia into an exemplary country.
