On the banks of the Magdalena River, civil and military authorities together with inhabitants of Magangué, accompanied the beginning of the eighth edition of the journey Sailing to the Heart of the Magdalena, which this year is part of the celebration of the Naval Bicentenary of the Colombian Navy.
At the rhythm of cumbia, the amphibious landing ship ARC Golfo de Urabá set sail with representatives of more than 15 public and private institutions, who, for 10 days, will provide services to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of eight villages, seven of the department of Bolívar and one of the department of Cesar, on the banks of this important river artery.
This initiative led by the Colombian Navy is being carried out thanks to the Government of Bolívar and public and private sector organizations, which led to the effective coordination to provide comprehensive well-being to more than 120 thousand inhabitants of the departments of Bolívar and Cesar.
During this eight edition of Sailing to the Heart of the Magdalena health and recreation services will be provided and humanitarian aid distribution will be made. These processes will be carried out by the Naval Institution in a coordinated work with the Health Secretariats of the Government of Bolívar, local mayors, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing - ICBF, Ser Social, the foundations Unidos, Minutes of God, Abrazos del Alma, Procaps, Multualser, La Rebaja, Colgate, Professional Officers of the Naval Reserve of Barranquilla and Cartagena, the universities of Cartagena, Libre and Sinú, as well as the International Corporation of Comprehensive Education Elyon Yireth, Colombia Migration, the National Army and the National Police.
