Military engineers are already on the Herveo- Delgaditas road, intervening this evacuation route.
More than 8 thousand inhabitants of the municipality of Herveo, will benefit of the improvement of the Herveo - Delgaditas road, in case of an evacuation due to the eruption of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, thanks to the intervention already carried out by the Engineer Battalion N.13 General António Baraya in support of the Sixth Brigade of the National Army.
This intervention includes several points in a segment of approximately 17 kilometers of maintenance, in which there is a backhoe and a motor grader, military engineers, and in the same way the manpower of the Infantry Battalion No.16 Patriotas who will be in charge of the manual cleaning of the gutters and the unclogging of sewers, who hope this week to conduct this improvement quickly and with quality.
In this way, fulfilling the requirements of the national government and especially supporting the civil authority, in case of an eventual evacuation, these inhabitants can go easily from one of the four municipalities of influence of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano.
With this intervention we seek to safeguard the lives of the inhabitants, which is part of the institutional mission of the soldiers of the National Army, to protect civilians within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan.
