In 2022, the Caribbean Naval Force has found more than 140 tons of cocaine hydrochloride.
As part of the control operations carried out in the fight against drug trafficking, the Military Forces found more than 800 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that were being transported in a go fast boat in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
The effective coordination conducted by surface resources of the Colombian Navy led to the consolidation of this important result, including the detection of a suspicious ship traveling at high speed through the Gulf of Urabá, bound for Central America.
Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Urabá Coast Guard Station was sent to the area for the corresponding review. The individuals who crewed the boat, realizing the work of the authorities, made evasive maneuvers, so the Colombian Sailors began a pursuit that culminated in the maritime interception of the ship 22 nautical miles northwest of Mulatos, in the department of Antioquia.
Inside the boat were found by troops 32 sacks containing 800 rectangular packages, similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations for the transport of illicit substances.
The two individuals of Colombian nationality were taken together with the material and the boat, to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH was carried out, establishing that the substance contained in the packages was 804 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
It is estimated that this illegal merchandise would reach a cost of 27 million dollars in the international illegal market, a figure that stops entering the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo thanks to the decisive operation that the Colombian Navy engages against drug trafficking in the Colombian Caribbean. In addition, the marketing of approximately two million doses of cocaine on the streets of the world was prevented.
During the operation, 30 barrels with 1,500 gallons of gasoline were in the same way found. The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
It should be noted that, in 2022, the Caribbean Naval Force has made the finding of more than 140 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, hitting by more than 4,700 million dollars to organizations at the service of drug trafficking that commit crimes in this region of the country.
