With the First Canine and Feline Caravan, led by the Colombian Navy together with the Municipal Mayor's Office of Puerto Carreño, the Departmental Government of Vichada and the National Police, 74 dogs and 28 cats in vulnerable condition received free veterinary medical assistance, in Puerto Carreño – Vichada.

The initiative called all the institutions in a mobile veterinary medical activity, in which primary care, deworming, vaccination and the distribution of 120 kilos of concentrated food to be provided to animals for adoption, in street condition and the most vulnerable in the center of the municipality and a sector known as La Querendona, on the outskirts of Puerto Carreño, as part of the commitment of the Military Forces and government institutions with the comprehensive wellbeing of all living beings.

The caravan started at 8:00 a.m. in the central park and, later, traveled the main streets, passing through the municipality's pier, until reaching the second fixed assistance point, where 102 animals, including dogs and cats, benefit free of charge.

It should be noted that this is the first activity of this type that is carried out in the municipality, which was in the same way used to count the animals, in order to project a new activity that continues to contribute to their comprehensive well-being.

The Colombian Navy, as an Institution responsible for the environment, will continue to lead this type of animal protection strategies, which seek to improve the conditions and quality of life of the most vulnerable dogs and felines of the Colombian East, thus ratifying its commitment to the comprehensive wellbeing of fauna in the country.
