This individual allegedly committed crimes in the departments of Meta, Vichada and Casanare, including massacres, homicides, extortions, kidnappings and forced displacement.
Thanks to the work of the military intelligence, troops of the National Army, in a coordinated and interinstitutional manner with the Police and the Prosecutor's Office, arrested the individual known by the aliases Pata Loca, Alonso or Burro, accused of being the ringleader of the Gonzalo Oquendo Urrego substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who would be committing crimes in the departments of Meta, Vichada and Casanare.
The arrest took place in the urban area of the municipality of Barranca de Upía, Meta, by means of an arrest warrant issued by the 72nd District Court of the city of Bogotá.
Alias Pata loca, Alonso or Burro, 48, is native to Turbo, Antioquia and would have approximately 26 years committing crimes in the departments of Meta, Vichada and Casanare. In this year he would have ordered the murder of three people in the urban area of the municipality of Maní, Casanare, on January 6, 2022, where Vicente Soto Berrío, his son, Gustavo Soto Chaparro, and Alfonso Sandoval died. Apparently he would have had participation in the murder of Mrs. María Julia Pinzón Ruta, on March 25, 2022, in the urban area of the municipality of Maní, Casanare. He is accused of participating in the murder of a migrant, apparently a narcotics seller, on March 25, 2022, in the urban area of the municipality of Aguazul, Casanare. He in the same way allegedly participated in the murder of Pedro Naranjo, in May 2022, in the Campanero de Maní village sector, Casanare, and in the murder of Gustavo Adolfo Castañeda Araque, on May 5, 2022, in the urban area of the municipality of Maní. Apparently he carried out these murders because of the dispute he was carrying out to have control of the sale and commercialization of microtrafficking in the department.
With this important arrest, the GAO Clan del Golfo loses an individual accused of being the ringleader, with extensive experience in the armed field, thus harming the command and direction of the structure and the coordination of orders emanating from the department of Urabá. The ability to plan, direct and order irregular operations against companies, ranchers, rice farmers, merchants who do not pay extortions for money made by the armed group outlaw is in the same way weakened. The operations, command and criminal control of the activities derived from drug trafficking, microtrafficking in the areas of interference of this structure are weakened. With this arrest, the terrorist operations and the war capacity of the GAO Clan del Golfo in the department of Casanare will be reduced, since this individual is the one who would have the connections to acquire the war material.
The arrested man was taken by air to the city of Yopal, where he was put into custody of the authorities to initiate the process of prosecution for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes.
