Units of the Colombian Navy launched an extensive operation jointly with the National Army and coordinated with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, to find the whereabouts of Mr. Omar Delgado, who apparently had been kidnaped by individuals of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, structure 6, mobile column Jaime Martínez, Sunday afternoon, June 12, in the rural area of Buenaventura.

Once the Naval Institution had knowledge of the facts, it immediately began the search operation in the sectors of Bocas de Anchicayá, Punta Soldado, and in the Raposo, Pital, Cajambre and El Naya rivers, carrying out naval operations of military area control.

For this, the number of units was increased with the deployment of more than 230 men, constant overflights over the area and patrols with Coast Guard units, National Army troops, CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) personnel and the National Police whose objective was to return Mr. Delgado to freedom, protecting his good physical condition.

After intense hours of searching, the military personnel neutralized the intentions of the criminals, who upon noticing the work of the troop by land, air and river were forced to release Mr. Omar Delgado safe and sound.

In   this operation, it was possible to find a camp area of the residual GAO Jaime Martínez Mobile Column, finding long and short-range weapons, ammunition of different calibers, war material and military accessories.
