With this finding, the finances of drug trafficking groups are hit by more than 14 million dollars.
As part of an operation against drug trafficking organizations, the Colombian Navy discovered 419 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported by two Dominicans on a go fast ship.
Intelligence of the Colombian Navy guided the Maritime Patrol aircraft and Coast Guard units from Santa Marta, which intercepted the ship 60 nautical miles north of Puerto Bolívar, La Guajira. During the inspection, 17 sacks with rectangular packages, similar to those used by criminal organizations for the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances, were found by troops.
The personnel and material found were transported to the Coast Guard post in Riohacha, where Judicial Police officers conducted the preliminary identification test to the substance found in the packages, determining that it corresponded to 419 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The two individuals were put into custody of the authorities for prosecution.
With the finding of this drug, which would be destined for the coasts of the Dominican Republic, the Colombian Navy prevented the entry of more than US$ 14 million into the drug trafficking organizations finances, as product of the illegal commercialization of the drug in international markets. In addition, the circulation and consumption of more than one million doses of cocaine worldwide was prevented.
