The Navy of Colombia conducted in the waters of the municipality of Coveñas, Sucre, a training maneuver Rescue on the seas with the Launch of Paratroopers and Cargo, known as RAMPAC, which aims to provide initial assistance to the victims of shipwrecks and various emergencies at sea, deploying aerial elements with a team of rescuers, who parachute along with the equipment needed to assist the staff, this maneuver is complemented with the arrival in the area of a ship.
When an emergency occurs at sea, the Colombian Navy sends to the area of operations a Maritime Patrol aircraft, which uses its electronic sensors to find the place of the incident. Once the castaways are found, two life rafts equipped with a parachute are launched for extraction and controlled descent, which, in addition to assisting the staff, serve as a reference for the aquatizing of the rescuers.
Then a box containing a Zodiac boat and its respective engine is launched. Subsequently, the rescuers personnel on board the Maritime Patrol aircraft are launched to make their jump over the area of the disaster; they configure the necessary platforms and conduct the rescue of the castaways. At the same time, a Colombian Navy ship with helicopter operation capability moves to the area of operations to complete the evacuation of personnel.
