In the premises of the Navy Brigade No.2 in Buenaventura, Valle de Cauca, an exchange of experts on medical issues was held as part of the Southern Cooperation Station exercise (SPS-21), the U.S. Embassy in Colombia and the Colombian Navy, for 14 consecutive days, with a delegation of six officers from this country.
The expert course was successfully followed by 19 students including Non-Commissioned Officers and navy men who are part of the different components of the Pacific Naval Force.
This activity was an interaction of partner countries, united around the same purpose: Saving lives in the combat area! During this course, topics such as the care of wounded in combat and combat lifesaver skills, whose denomination in English is Tatical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Combat Lifesaver (CLS SKILLS) were addressed.
The program was carried out thanks to the invitation of the United States Naval Mission in Colombia, to strengthen the exchange of knowledge on medical issues that this country carries out annually and that consist of a series of deployments with the armies of other countries, medical teams and Military Forces of partner nations.
Its main objective is to provide expertise to share Resources and carried out interoperability in medical, diving, aviation and safety operations. During the training, simulated theoretical and practical exercises were carried out in combat situations, on bleeding control, management of cervical trauma, patient transport, management of tropical diseases, lessons from the past, and management of patients with Covid-19 and psychological first aid.
