The minister of Defence, Diego Molano Aponte accompanied this Monday the president, Iván Duque, in the III International Conference on Analysis and Prevention of Urban Terrorism that takes place in Bogotá, where topics such as the global phenomenon of the comprehensive security and the threat of terrorism in the world were analyzed.

During his speech, the President of the Republic made it clear that he will not permit crime and terrorism (as a global threat) to take over the country.

"Today we have databases of information in real time that leads more allied nations to detect and act against the work of members of these terrorist organizations," said the president.

In the event, which was in the same way attended by the minister of the Interior, Daniel Palacios; the General Commander of the Military Forces, general Luis Fernando Navarro, the director of Citizen Security of the Police, general Carlos Ernesto Rodriguez, the U.s. ambassador in Colombia, Philip S. Goldberg; the senior Advisor to the National Security, Rafael Guarín; the head of the ministry of Defence referred to the challenge that we now have in Colombia to combat the phenomenon of urban terrorism of low-intensity.

"This type of operations seeks to destabilize democracies, destabilize activities and institutions that is why we do not and will not tolerate it," said Minister Molano.

In addition, the Minister of Defense spoke about the damages suffered by the country in the context of the social protest, which are totally unrelated to the peaceful demonstration.

"The Military Forces must be the guarantor of the demonstration, protect the rights of those who do not march and those who do it, however, they must be decisive with the acts that seek to generate destabilization," he said.

In the same way and in line with the recognition of the work of the Military Forces made by the President of the Republic, Minister Molano congratulated all the members of the Military Forces that day by day watch over and guarantee the safety and life of Colombians.

"Our soldiers, our police units have faced all the phenomena of terrorism throughout the history of our country in a determined way containing the threat of destabilization and being guarantors of peaceful demonstration as it has been evidenced in recent months," he said.

Finally, the Minister of Defense said that to end the phenomenon of low-intensity urban terrorism, interagency coordination is necessary, working hand in hand with technology to find those responsible for the destruction and violence in the country and thus prosecute them.

"We will stand and in defense of democracy, institutions and our democratic principles," the Minister of Defense concluded.
