Today marks the National Day of the Heroes of the Nation and their Families, in accordance with the provisions of Law 913 of October 21, 2004 “which sets the Day of the Heroes of the Nation and their Families,” as a way of honoring the efforts, achievements and sacrifice of thousands of soldiers and police officers in courageous operations for the defense of the Nation.
During the commemoration activity, the Military Forces and the National Police held a ceremony at the Memorial to the Heroes killed in combat to pay a tribute to the members of the Military Forces and their families who have defended military and police values in search of the protection of the territory and its inhabitants. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defense, the General Commander of the Military Forces and the Commanders of the military forces, in addition to the representation of the Colombia Herida Foundation.
In addition, in the evening, in this same place will be held the concert: Melody of the Heroes, in which, in an unprecedented and coordinated work by the symphonic groups of the National Army, the National Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, musical pieces will be played together to pay tribute to the Heroes of the Nation and their Families.
The General Command of the Military Forces, through the Joint Strategic Transition Command, reiterates its commitment to the memory of those who, in favor of national wellbeing, have sacrificed their lives or part of their bodies to defend national values.
