In the course of military operations five individuals were neutralized. They would be members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo. Five more members were arrested.
In the course of the Esparta Military and Police Campaign, troops of the National Army, in a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation with the Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, dismantled a criminal structure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, in a rural area of the municipality of Cúcuta.
The operation was carried out in the municipality of Vegas del Pamplonita, where the troops arrived and engaged combat, after intelligence work that gave an account of the activity of the members of this GAO.
It should be noted that in the course of military operations there was the neutralization of five individuals who would be members of this structure, one of them would be alias Doble Cuatro, accused of being the main ringleader. In the same way, it was possible to arrest five more individuals, including alias Boina, alleged third ringleader in command of the criminal substructure Luis Orlando Padierna, of the GAO Clan del Golfo in this region.
Long range weapons, handguns, accompanying weapons, magazines for rifles and pistols, ammunition of different calibres, hand grenades, electric detonators, abundant communications material and military accessories were found by troops at the site. Those arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities to continue with their judicial process.
So far this year, this organized armed group, which carries out terrorism, drug trafficking, kidnapping and extortion, has suffered 269 damages as a result of operations carried out against its criminal activities.
