New details about the investigation that seeks to clarify the facts and find those responsible for the terrorist attack on the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, and a government delegation in the FAC-007 helicopter, were revealed by the Minister of National Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, and the Director general of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia.

Minister Molano revealed that thanks to the joint work conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (DIJIN), the Intelligence Directorate of the National Police, the Anti-Kidnapping Directorate of the Institution and the Attorney General's Office, two Identikit pictures of the alleged perpetrators of the terrorist attack against the head of State that occurred last Friday in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, were produced.

The head of the ministry of Defense in the same way revealed that “information has been received on a possible criminal drug-trafficking alliance conducted by the ELN's urban front and Farc dissidents, residual armed group 33.”

In the same sense, he reported that in 2021 the Military Forces and the Attorney General's Office have arrested 4 ringleaders of the ELN for extradition purposes for drug trafficking. "This year more than 10 tons of cocaine have been found and more than 396 laboratories have been destroyed in Norte de Santander. There have in the same way been 40 arrests of Farc criminals and 53 of the ELN. In total, 93 were identified, arrested or killed, or have demobilized, in the course of the operations,” he said.

The two Identikit pictures released by the authorities are said to be of the same persons who fired the AK-47 and 7-62 rifles found at the scene with marks of the Venezuelan Military Forces, along with five magazines and 20 cases, 14 belong to the FAL rifle and belong 6 to the AK-47 rifle.

So far, 102 genetic, ballistic and dactyloscopic criminology activities have been carried out, 45 judicial interviews and 22 security cameras videos are being analyzed with 160 hours of recording.

Under the guidance of two specialized prosecutors, 84 investigators participate in the process, which seeks not only to arrest the perpetrators of the attack, but in the same way to identify the minds of the terrorist attack.

"We will continue to work without a pause until those responsible for this cowardly and terrorist act are arrested and brought to justice. Colombia's institutions are unbreakable and our Military Forces have guaranteed and will guarantee the stability of the institutions and the solidity of our democracy,” said Minister Molano.
