Thanks to coordination and support efforts conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Sucre Office of the Attorney General, the National Police and the Ministry of the Interior, efforts are being made in the department of Sucre to carry out prevention and awareness campaigns against crimes that attack personal freedom.

The timely prevention campaigns led by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre of the Colombian Navy with the support of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Elite Conjunto Nacional No.1, as well as the denunciations of the citizens, have prevented Sucre people, especially the productive groups of ranchers, merchants and hotel owners, from being victims of extortion.

With these activities, this year it has been prevented that citizens pay 581 million pesos as a result of these extortion activities in different modalities, being the express kidnapping or the modality to require false services, the most used.

Recently the authorities worked in the sector of El Palito, in the municipality of San Onofre, which has been beaten by different groups outlaw, who intimidate civilians. There, the inhabitants were trained with workshops and preventive advice in which emphasis was made on security measures to prevent being victims of this crime and to invite them to join the different denunciation campaigns to counteract the criminal operations of these groups.

This rapprochement conducted by the community and the institutions contributes to strengthening access to justice and to reducing the negative effects of this type of crime, as well as contributing to the reduction of crime rates in the department.

Through the institutional campaign I do not Pay, I Denounce, led by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), it has been possible to strengthen direct links and trust with trade and trade organizations, which have created an awareness of denunciation to face crimes that attack personal freedom. In this regard, 48 meetings have been held with farmers, teachers, merchants, hoteliers and transporters, training 2,447 of its members, who are made aware of security and self-care measures.

In addition, 87 consultations have been carried out for victims of extortion, and more than 250 psychological checkpoints and work plans where the anti-extortion line 147 is promoted; this line is available 24 hours a day.
