The Omega Joint Task Force Command informs:
1. The night before May 20 of this year, Private José Niver Núñez Soto (R.I.P.) died when he was hit by a shot fired by another uniformed man’s endowment weapon.
2. The incident occurred in the town El Vergel, municipality of La Macarena, Meta, when soldiers from the Ground Operations Battalion No.2 were carrying out military operations in the sector.
3. The Commander of the Specific Command of Caguán and of the Land Operations Battalion no.2, immediately worked on the scene with the authority for urgent acts and verified directly the circumstances, to initiate the appropriate investigations.
4. We, the members of Joint Task Force Omega, extend a heartfelt greeting of condolences to the family, partners and companions of our soldier José Niver Núñez Soto and pray to the Almighty for his eternal rest. Peace in his grave.
